County Reports

Hopefully everyone receives their information from their counties before we return. However, if you do not, don't worry. We will look the information on the county web-pages when we get back to class. Remember this off-track time is an excellent time to get your county project completed. Have fun and I will see you on April 22nd.

COUNTY REPORT & PROJECT

Over 40 hours will be dedicated to the written section of the county report, however if time is wasted in class by the student, then there will need to be some work done at home. On the other hand, the project must be completed at home. Projects and Reports are due on May 28th. Late reports will be docked 20% for each day they are late. If you are going to be absent, make sure you send your report with someone else; otherwise, the report will be considered late. More information and requirements about the written report will be discussed after you return from being off track. Please do not start on the written report while you are off track.

Projects (Required) Choose 1

*All projects must be done by the child. Parents may help when needed, but they may not complete the project for the child. Due June 2nd.

1. County Float AND Brochure

This project is a three dimensional display. Using a shoebox as a base, create a parade-like float that represents your county. Be sure to include the name of your county, important landmarks, and other subject matters associated with the county. Neatness and creativity are very important.

County Travel Brochure

Using the information you have gathered about your county, you will create a Travel Brochure. Your brochure should contain the following:

1. County name on the front, with a catchy slogan.

2. Colored illustrations/pictures (6 minimum).

3. Captions under each picture.

4. A brief history.

5. Information of what to see and do in your county.

6. Identify Historical Landmarks or monuments.

7. A small map of the county.

8. At least six sections.

*You may use printed pictures and maps for this project. However all the written information must be in your own words.

*2. County Three-Panel Poster

For the Three-panel poster, the following items are required: (This is a great project to use scrapbook materials.)

1. County name – Large letters.

2. Colored Map of the county with:

a. County seat (star).

b. Mountains, rivers, lakes, etc.

c. Landmarks, tourist attractions.

d. Five important cities (minimum).

e. Colored neatly.

f. Key

3. One-inch border using images that relate to your county.

4. Six interesting facts about your county – 1 to 2 paragraphs each.

5. A small history about any subject related to your County – 1 to 2 paragraphs.

6. Colorful pictures that relate to your county with captions under each.

*Three panels: use two poster boards – cut one in half, then tape each half to both sides of the first poster board. This gives you one big panel in the middle and two small panels on the side.

*3. A Travel Book

Visit your County and make a Travel book including the following:

1. Take 3-5 pictures of historical sites. (Include yourself in the picture)

2. Take 3-5 pictures of economical sites. (Include yourself in the picture)

Back on Track

I am so excited to go back on track. I have had a fun vacation, full of reading, sleeping and just spending time with family. But, too much spare time is not a good thing. I miss my kids and I am excited to have some fun and learn.

New Year

Have a great time off-track and get ready to work hard when we get back. Things are going to go a lot faster and the bar will be raised. We will work harder than we have and we will have fun learning together.

Welcome

Welcome to my class blog. You will find assignments, spelling words and other important announcements. If you have any comments, go a head and add them.

Thank you,

Miss D. Brown
